Selfishly wasting billions of dollars. Accepting bribes from dictators and mass murderers. Taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich. Calling the worst pedophile in modern history his best friend (RELEASE THE FILES!). Emboldening the worst racism, sexism, and social discord in decades. Kidnapping (many) people off the street. Wiping his ass with the law of the land. What more could a girl ask for?

There are a lot of definitions of evil, depending on your cultural milieu. My personal favorite is “any act that results in unnecessary suffering.” Trump is the physical incarnation of this brand of evil. Yet, no matter what stick you use, no matter whether you measure in Fahrenheit or Celsius, whether you use the definitions of religions or only from your own lived experiences, one thing is as constant as the speed of light: Trump is evil. The sycophants supporting are evil. The bastards on the ground doing his dirty work are evil.

I wish I had something more poignant or insightful to say. There’s a deep frustration at flagrant evil on display. I’m doing all I can, and all that I know how to do, but my reach is so small, and my resources are so insufficient, and the evil is so vast.

But, especially now, I must ground myself. My love shines brighter than the depths of this abyssal darkness. My hope is taller than even the biggest tsunamis of despair. My bonds with others are stronger than the quakes trying to rip us apart.

What option do I have other than to fight, and to win?
